Our Destination
Where do you go to escape the 100+ degree heat in late June?  NOT Sedona.  HA.  Beware the temperatures are just as high as Phoenix.  This trail is sunny most of the way. Be prepared with plenty of water and a hat in the summer.  Well worth it and as long as you are prepared you will love it.

My nieces from New Jersey are visiting so today was our tourist trip to show them Sedona and get in a new hike.  I have been to Chicken Point on a Pink Jeep Tour years ago.  I have pictures at Chicken Point.  I have never hiked it before so here we go on Hike #43!

We head out straight into the Sun.  The sky is beautiful but even at 10:00 AM it is in the mid 90's. No one is complaining though!

The views are beautiful.  You can see Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte to the South.  Cathedral Rock my all time favorite to the West. The Chapel is in full view and we will soon see the Nuns and Chicken point as we travel North East.

I Love this Picture of Meg!
Stay on the path for Little Horse Trail.  It is well marked.  This is an easy trail and great for beginners.  The end point is well worth it.  We signed in to the Trail log and off we went.  Are we from Arizona, New Jersey or Peru?
Julio is well suited with his Camera. I am sure there will be great shots taken today.  There is only a slight elevation change on this hike. A few ups and downs. All easy.  Since I hike Windgate pass for 10 miles yesterday (not a new hike) this one is a welcome change of pace and scenery.  Plus a fun group.

We headed down into a nice wash.  I am sure this is filled with water during a monsoon.  There is shade so the girls take a moment for a Photo op.
As always it is amazing to think that 1 1/2 hours from Phoenix is this magnificent place.  It truly is magical in Sedona.

The trail is well marked and we continue to head up the path.  Our shade is going to leave us soon.
A great shot of Cathedral rock between the trees.  The top of Cathedral rock between the Fingers is one of my most favorite places in the world.  I have tried to feel the Vortex but never had it happen.  But it is in my Top 5 places to just sit and enjoy the view!

Up we continue to go.

The views are great.  If you are traveling with a family this is a must hike.

The view of the Two Nuns as we get closer.  Say a Prayer!  Where are the Priests?

We keep stopping to take pictures.  How could you not?

We stay on the Little Horse Trail.  You could take the Chapel Trail and end up at the Chapel. But then you would have to get back after visiting the church.  It is an option but not our plan today.

Our View that we are going to.  At the top is where all the Pink Jeeps stop for a photo opportunity.  There are 5 jeeps when we arrive.  We let them do their picture taking and then they clear up.
We pretended we took the Jeep Tour.  It was a cheaper ride on our feet!

Once the pink jeeps left 7 jeeps with owners arrived.  They stayed on the other side but did not come over for a picture.  We stayed for about 20 minutes and took lots of pictures.

We are on Top of The World Heeey!

Back down the hill. We are all hot and hungry!  We are thinking Mexican for lunch! Yum

View on the way back to the Trailhead

In the end the hike was 4.72 miles.  That is to Chicken Point and back.  It took us over two hours but we stopped a lot and spent time at the top.  It was a great day and fun to spend the time with Anita and Giulianna.  They did great hiking!

Hike #43! Check it OFF!!
